Let's Embrace the Games. Berkeley Castle Management has attended a number of Pan Am planning meetings to help us better understand how the Games will impact your work. A few things we have learned, is that the events that will draw the biggest crowds, happen on weekends. As well, very few events start before 10 am. At that, for the most part, many early events are qualifiers or day long, which tend to have fewer spectators. The evening events start after the traditional work day is over. In management’s humble opinion, with a little bit of planning, you could even get to work faster during the Pan Am period! Getting to Work If you drive: If you can use the HOV lanes, it will pretty much guarantee you a traffic free drive to work, likely quicker than your regular commute. HOV map Vehicles travelling with three or more passengers can access the HOV lanes from June 29 to July 27 (5:00 a.m.–11:00 p.m.) & from July 28 to August 18 (5:00 a.m.–11:00 p.m.), vehicles travelling with two or more passengers can access the HOV lanes. Electric and hybrid vehicles with the green Ontario licence plate will be able to access the HOV lanes on the provincial highway network and will not need a specific number of passengers Take the T.T.C: We are lucky to be adjacent to the athletes’ village. During the games, there will be enhanced service. This means the 172 bus (king station) will run every 10 minutes. So, you can pick that up, or the king car.
Pan Am Games activities in the area Below are links to some helpful documents and apps to help you enjoy the games and many other events (sporting, concerts, arts) in the city this summer. Hop on the king car (for free with your ticket) and take a couple of hours during a beautiful day to go watch. Or watch the sailing in the harbour. Plan your PAN AM experience and download the apple APP the Android APP Games Schedule: lists every sporting event at every venue with start and finish times, and a quick view chart. Trip planner: like google maps, but just for the games. Nathan Phillips Square: The landmark free PANAMANIA live site.
The Distillery District: will transform into a vibrant hub of arts and culture. Project 41 is what this neighbourhood has done to contribute to the games. Next games related event is Saturday July 4th
